You can reach Lipari by hydrofoil, ferry or helicopter.

The islands can be reached from the airports of Catania, Naples, Palermo and Reggio Calabria. By sea you can reach the islands by hydrofoil from the ports of Naples, Messina, Milazzo and Reggio Calabria. The ferries leave from Naples and Milazzo.

BY CAR

› From Messina if you have your own car: You have to take the motorway to Milazzo (it takes 1 hour). Once you reach Milazzo you can take the first ferry for the islands with the companies SIREMAR or NGI.

› From Catania if you have your own car:  You have to take the motorway to Milazzo (it takes 1 hour and 40 minutes). Once you reach Milazzo you can take the first ferry for the islands with the companies SIREMAR or NGI.

› From Palermo if you have your own car: You have to take the motorway to Milazzo (it takes 3 hours, 300 kilometers). Once you reach Milazzo you can take the first ferry for the islands with the companies SIREMAR  or NGI.

BY TRAIN

The nearest railway station for the Aeolian Islands is Milazzo (ME). Please note: there is a public bus service between the railways station and the port in Milazzo (about 4 km) from which you can take hydrofoils and ferries to the islands. Or there are taxis available.
