CLIMB UP THE CRATER IN STROMBOLI
CLIMB UP THE CRATER IN STROMBOLI
Hike to one of the most spectacular craters in the world
The excursion departs from Lipari late in the morning, and after a 40-minute crossing we will reach the bay of Calajunco. By coasting the inhabited side of the island we will then get to the main village, where we will stop for about an hour. We will then sail round the islets of Dattilo, Lisca Bianca, Lisca Nera and Basiluzzo. We will reach the port of Stromboli after a 40-minute crossing and meet the guides that will take you up the volcano. The time the climb starts depends on the season, it is usually two hours before sunset since that is the amount of time needed to get to 400 meters, which is as high as you can go at the moment. The stop there is an hour maximum. It then takes 1hour 30 minutes to get back to the village. We get back to Lipari at about midnight.
The excursion requires good physical conditions and is quite demanding.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT:
Access to the volcano is limited to a few groups a day. Due to limited availability we recommend you book the climb in advance.
